Regata Storica (Historic Regatta) : Venice, Italia

Something just flashing in my mind.. it was boats, river, something about sail, team work, fun, and festival... So i just googling about some boat races and canal festival and i found this one..

Regata Storica
Location: Castello, Venice, Italy
Date: first Sunday in September. 1 Sep 2013; 7 Sep 2014; 6 Sep 2015.

These rowing races on the Grand Canal commemorate the welcome given to Caterina Cornaro, wife of the King of Cyprus, in 1489 after she renounced her throne in favour of Venice. The most famous regatta out of 120-plus that take place in the watery city between April and September, the event begins with a parade of boats decorated in 16th-century style and powered by crews in period costume.

The races start in the Castello area and proceed west up the canal to the former convent of Santa Chiara, where the boats turn around a paleto (pylon) to pound back to the finishing line at Ca’ Foscari, cheered on by the locals.

Google Nose

Ever wish you could search Google by smell? Now you can.

APRIL FOOLS!

Google, as per tradition, is out with their latest April Fools' Day prank to celebrate the practical joke-based holiday.

Google Nose BETA, the company's new fictional product, promises "to offer the sharpest olfactory experience available."

A video introducing Google Nose (viewable above) explains that the feature allows users to "search for smells." Seems complicated, right? Well that's because it is (it's also fake). The product intersects "photons with infrasound waves" and "temporarily aligns molecules to emulate a particular scent." The "mobile aroma indexing program" at the heart of the product has amassed a "15 million scentibyte database of smells from around the world."

But what about mobile? Well, Google has you covered. Their "Android Ambient Odor Detection" allows you to collect smells on your phone.

It all sounds so great. But your nose will have to wait, because this incredible technology only exists in a fictional universe. Check out Google's 2011 and 2012 April Fools' Day pranks here and here.

I just reblog this post from Huffington Post : (source)

Santa Fe's tradition, Mexico

This is one of Santa Fe's best-loved traditions, and it has been an annual rite since 1924, when artist Will Shuster created Zozobra, inspired by seeing the Holy Week celebration of Mexico's Yaqui Indians. Every year Santa Fe stuffs all their wishes and troubles into a huge bogeyman marionette called Zozobra. Then they burn him down in a glorious blaze of pyrotechnics and fireworks putting all their troubles behind them. This year, Zozobra takes place on September 8 in Fort Marcy Park.
